Can't you use a german multiple socket with an adapter?
This way its safe and you only need one adapter for multiple german plugs...

Hi David,

thanks for your comment. Of course it's always safer to use an adapter and I do not reccomend anything else in my posting. (Just showed the possibility).

And it's true, you can buy adapters anywhere - at the airport, at Argos or other electrical shops for around 5-10 euors :-)

Hi,

I'm posting from Ireland! While your tip will work with most Irish sockets (steckdosen), some are extra-safe and use a more complicated interlock mechanism.

I would still advise bringing an adapter.

Also, the UK and Irish system sometimes uses 'ring circuits', meaning that the socket outlet can be supplied from a 32A circuit. All plugs are fused from 3 amps to 13amps, this protects the cable and the appliance itself.

If you plug a Euro plug directly into an Irish socket without an adapter, you could cause a fire if your device was faulty or short circuited.

You can buy a proper schuko to UK/Ireland adaptor in most electrical shops, pharmacies, airports, supermarkets etc here and they are only a couple of euro!

Stay safe! Use an adapter!
